page view

A unit for measuring Web site readership which corresponds to one person viewing one page, or at least a portion of a page, one time. If a person leaves a certain page and returns to it in the same visit to the Web site two page views are counted. Page views are a more difficult to measure than hits but are a much more useful and relevant measure of the attention a page garners from viewers. (See hit and Web page in the hard copy dictionary.)
