The cost in any given media for a thousand impressions. On the Web, the CPM for impressions on a Web site that attracts an undifferentiated variety of consumers (e.g. a typical search engine) is on the order of $5. The CPM for advertising on a Web site with a very specific audience that is likely to make sizable purchases (e.g. corporate telecommunications managers) can be in the neighborhood of $100.
