sil] Silicon Valley refers to the region of Northern California which serves as a hotbed for entrepreneurship. Hewlett Packard essentially served as the catalyst for this region, in the 1930s. It is the home for many notable high-tech firms, a major part of the venture capital community and Stanford University. Due to the symbiotic relationships between entrepreneurship, venture capital and Stanford University, a robust ecosystem has evolved.
