Internet Backbone

internet backbone is the term used for the connections of the internet of the large ISPs (for example MCI, British Telecom and UUnet). These ISPs provide the fastest data transfer and will be the most heavily trafficed nodes of the internet. They then connect to smaller, regional ISPs and so on.
