The company will have records of these customers (demographic and purchase behaviour), and will be able to use these records in order to try to monetize the installed-base. Companies try to develop switching costs, in order to encourage their installed-base to remain loyal. By estimating the life-time value of a customer in the installed-base, we can estimate the value of the company.
