Digital Subscriber Line (DSL)
A technology that allows the transmission of many forms of data, voice, and video for limited distances over the standard twisted-pair copper wire that is widely used to connect home and business telephone lines to telephone company central offices. DSL generally offers much higher transmission speeds than standard modems or ISDN but lower speeds (i.e. less bandwidth) than cable modems or T1 lines.
