Digital divide represents the gap between those who have access to the internet and those who do not. Those who have access to the internet typically come from wealthier segments of society, and wealthier countries. Access can be defined in terms of access to the physical infrastructure of the internet, or access via literacy. Access to the internet itself creates significant advantages to those who have it, further exacerbating the divide.
